I offer fitness training at your home, as a private and confidential alternative to going to a  public gym. This also allows us to determine what your specific goals and needs are and what you would enjoy. This may be one-on-one or if you have a friend or a couple of friends who you would like to work out with we can arrange to develop a small group experience.

Our first meeting to go over your goals and discuss what we feel I can do for you to meet them, is free of charge. There are forms you’ll need to go over and we’ll also establish if you need medical clearance to exercise. This is done for your safety and well being, as well as to establish what a safe, effective and fun program might be.

After this we’ll meet again, to do a fitness evaluation that in the previous meeting we established was right for you or go over results your doctor’s recommendations if medical testing was called for. And we will begin building a personal and changeable program that is right for you.  With group programs, there may be some give and take between all of you, but we’ll work to keep everyone involved and having fun.
There is no program. This is the “personal” in “personal training” that each individual’s goals, fitness level and interests are considered and worked with. People have different interests and are at different fitness levels; the only best forms of exercise are the ones you’ll want to do. And it does not have to be the same thing every time!

There is an idea that one needs to do the same workout repeatedly, just adding weight or distance or speed. That changing what you do is detrimental, will set you back. But the fact is that doing the same thing allows both your mind to get bored and your body to adapt in negative ways, including an increase chance of injury. Changing your routines, in both small and big ways, actually helps your fitness progress as well as keeping things interesting. Exploring options to find what you like to do and just changing things to keep it fresh is a great way to keep yourself moving. The best exercises are the ones that you enjoy doing and can do safely; if you’re not having fun you’ve not found the right things for you yet.

As there is no program, there is no set cost or contract. I believe that fitness guidance should be accessible to everyone and therefore use a sliding scale and options on how often we train together. The latter is also based on a client’s personal desire, some like a trainer for every workout session, at least at first, while others wish advice less frequently. It is also my desire, although perhaps a bad business plan, to teach clients about fitness and what they can do so that they do not need to rely on me.
